Hospital Stay: Health Care Made Simple Review

As a young, and fortunately, healthy individual I have not been put in the position of having to deal with hospitals, doctors, or medical tests; nothing beyond routine check-ups to this point (knock on wood). However, in that I am aware of my own mortality, and the statistical likelihood of having to interact with our medical system, I was more than excited to find this book with the hopes of being better prepared for what may come about in the future.
"Hospital Stay" does a great job of describing 'who' you'll be interacting with in the hospital, 'what' they will be doing to you, and 'why' these medical professionals are proceeding the way they are. Beyond that, the section off the book that talks about how to interact with and help loved ones cope with a hospital stay is very insightful and something that you probably won't find in many other places.
Being the CEO of a hospital, the author is uniquely positioned to give advice on the "Hospital Stay" and Garner does a good job of explaining in a way that any reader will understand.
I was certainly not disappointed with this book, and I think it is an excellent read for anyone who is either in or going into the hospital. If you are looking to better understand our healthcare system, you should definitely read this book.
